サヴィンスキーの町は、あまり変わってはいなかった。
駅前広場も、ごくたまに駅から現れた乗客が意味もなく立ちつくす姿こそ見られなくなったが、ぐるっと周りを取り囲む建物は、時代遅れの外観をものともせず、しっかりと立っていた。
ただ、劇場は閉鎖されていて、その理由が、客が少ないからか、思想的な問題か、あるいは他に何か我々の理解を超えた問題があったのか、定かではない。

The town of Savinsky itself had scarcely changed. Although no-one came out of the station anymore and stood looking at the square. The buildings surrounding it were still standing, though the architecture was the style of a bygone era.
The theater closed down although whether this was because it was supposed by the new ideology, or simply because customers stopped coming, is hard to say.
